    Thanks for sharing your experience. I have this work ahead of me on my silverado and had decided to use the flange method. You have changed my mind. What sort of safety measures do you use concerning the fuel tank? You mentioned the filler neck briefly and I was hoping you would talk more about that.

    • @Velvethamma
      @Velvethamma 4 місяці тому

      This truck is a diesel so I didn’t really have a concern about explosion. But for welding near gasoline tanks I will tape off the filler with duct tape. Anytime you need to weld in the area of a gas tank you are taking a risk. Keep a keen nose for fumes is my best advice. You can also rig up welding blankets to shield the tank area

    In the 03 to 06 models you do have to remove the door panel.....this part is screwed into the inner door panel. I mean you can break it with a screw driver and pry it out. Ask me how I know.

      also you can take them apart and clean the contacts with an eraser and it works rather than buying a new switch.

    Anybody do panel bond on complete rockers instead of welding and leave the screws in and grind the heads down just a little? I don't weld and it's my own vehicle so don't need it to look perfect when I sell it or junk it after 4 or 5 more winters of salt on the chassis.

    Just found I experuenced tve same exact issue. The regulators (all 4) have rhe same design as thhe Iwata regulator that gave you problems. I did a sinilar test just using a manifold and gauge hooked to each gun and found the Lematec showed a 7+ psi drop vs the manifold. With the manifold and wall regulator only, the pressure raised and fan improved tremendously! Im throwing them in the trash today!

    Thank you for showing the proper installation of the spring on the float pivot pin. I've cleaned a number of mower and snow blower carburetors over the years but today was the first time I've ever seen that spring. Before he moved, my neighbor gave me a Toro CCR Powerlite snowblower that been sitting a couple years with gasoline in the fuel tank. I removed the carburetor and cleaned it but didn't pay close enough attention of how the spring was installed when I removed the float pivot pin. The parts diagram for the carb wasn't helpful but I found your video and that did the trick. To mimimize carb problems, I run non-oxy gas in my mowers and snowblowers and drain the fuel systems at the end of the season. After thoroughly cleaning the carburetor on this recently acquired Powerlite, going forward I should be able to get by without removing the carburetor from the intake and just simply remove the main jet and bowl when the carb needs cleaning.

    I enjoyed this and the other video on this Tahoe project. I have the same problem with that lower door frame / rocker body panel. I have always wanted to buy a welding kit. Can you share how many hours this project may have taken you to finish? How well did it age since you fixed it? Total cost? I will be purchasing a welding kit as my 2015 Suburban LT has all the common rust problems that come with age plus the affects of living in the cold salty Northeast coast in Massachusetts.

    Get a radiant heater on an adjustable stand from Amazon like I did and "bake" your primer if its cold. Not too close, but close enuf to keep it warm. Go out and move it around as needed. I do the same on cold weather repairs/clear coat. It helps. Then i still let it sit overnight to make sure, then paint the next day

      The door catches are on the main rocker panel if I recall correctly. I have in the past left the suicide door on and bolted striker loosely. Then test fit rocker to align with lower door striker and properly gap the rocker to the door before welding in place
